The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) corridor is setting a new standard for urban transit by integrating electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at each of its 25 stations. This ambitious project, led by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), not only enhances convenience for commuters but also significantly contributes to the fight against air pollution.

Boosting Clean Energy and Convenience

Each RRTS station will feature dedicated EV charging facilities within their parking areas, beginning with the recently inaugurated station at Sahibabad. Located on the operational 34km stretch, this initiative paves the way for greater accessibility to clean transportation options, aligning with the broader vision of a sustainable and efficient urban transit system.

A Step Toward Sustainability

NCRTC’s commitment to environmental sustainability shines through their goal to fulfill 70% of the corridor’s energy needs using solar power. This proactive approach is expected to generate about 11MW of peak in-house solar power for non-traction purposes over the next five years.
